Why Australian Contractors Choose Journey Insure

When your plant stops, your site stops. We exist to keep both moving — with the right cover at the right price, and claims handled like the emergency they are.

We Speak Heavy Equipment

Plant and machinery is what we do — so we know the underwriters who’ll back your gear, the exclusions to watch for, and the cover most contractors don’t realise they’re missing.

Multiple Insurers, One Conversation

You shouldn’t phone five insurers and decode five PDS documents. Tell us what you operate and we’ll come back with the strongest cover at the sharpest premium — usually within a business day.

Claims That Actually Get Paid

We advocate directly with insurers, push for fast assessment, and chase repair or replacement so you’re back earning — not stuck in claims limbo. No call-centre runaround.

Australia-Wide, Locally Run

From regional WA to far north QLD, we cover plant Australia-wide. You’ll deal with a real broker, based in Australia, who picks up the phone.

What’s Covered. What’s Not.

  • Accidental damage — collision, drops, rollovers, site mishaps
  • Theft, attempted theft, vandalism and malicious damage
  • Mechanical and electrical breakdown
  • Fire, storm, flood and other natural events

  • Pre-existing damage or known defects

When the Worst Happens, the Clock Starts Ticking.

A stolen excavator. A loader rolled on a slope. A crane down on a Friday afternoon. The faster the claim moves, the faster you’re back earning. Here’s what we do the moment you call:

Triage the loss

We assess what happened, what’s covered, and what needs to happen first.

Lodge same day

Paperwork done, evidence packaged, claim opened with the insurer that business day where possible.

Push for assessment

We chase the loss adjuster so your machine isn’t sitting in a queue waiting on a phone call.

Repair or replace

We drive the insurer to a fast resolution and keep you updated at every step.

Cash flow protected

Business interruption claims processed alongside, so revenue keeps moving while the machine’s off the job.

Every day a 20-tonne excavator sits idle can cost $1,500–$3,000 in lost site revenue. That’s why we treat claims like an emergency, not paperwork.

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions most contractors ask before getting a plant & machinery insurance quote.

How fast can I get a plant & machinery insurance quote?
Most quotes come back within 24 business hours. Simpler single-machine quotes are often same-day. Submit the form above or call our team on 0493 255 019 and we’ll get the right insurer working on it immediately.
What types of equipment can Journey Insure cover?
Anything from a single excavator or skid steer through to large mixed fleets — including cranes, forklifts, tractors, harvesters, drill rigs, EWPs, dozers, graders, loaders, and specialist mining or forestry equipment. If you operate it, we can almost certainly find a market for it.
Does the policy cover hired-in plant?
Yes — hired-in plant cover is available and often essential if your contracts require it. We’ll review your hire agreements and structure the cover so liability is correctly placed.
What about older or high-value machinery?
Both are insurable. Older machinery may need an agreed-value approach to make sure you’re not under-paid on a claim, and high-value machinery often benefits from specialist underwriters we have direct access to. We’ll guide you on the right structure.
Will the insurance cover lost income while my machine is being repaired?
Yes — business interruption cover can be added so revenue lost during downtime is paid out. This is often the difference between a manageable incident and a project-ending one.
Do I need a separate policy for each machine?
Not at all. We can structure a single fleet policy across multiple machines, sites and states, which is usually cheaper and simpler to manage than per-machine policies.
What’s the difference between a broker and going direct to an insurer?
A direct insurer sells you one product — theirs. As specialist brokers we compare 20+ insurers, negotiate cover and price, and act as your advocate at claim time. There’s typically no extra cost — insurers pay our fee — and most clients save money.
Do you cover operators and site liability as well?
We can package operator personal accident, public liability and other complementary covers alongside your plant insurance. One conversation, one renewal, one broker.
What information do I need to get a quote?
The basics: equipment type, make/model/year, estimated value, where it’s stored overnight, and a rough sense of where it operates. The quote form above captures everything we need to get started — the rest we handle on a quick call.
What if I have a claim — who do I call?
Call your Journey Insure broker direct. We lodge the claim with the insurer, push for fast assessment, and stay on it until you’re back on site. You won’t be passed to a call centre.
